Here is where this recipe for chocolate turtle cookies comes in. I thought I'd make some cookies to welcome a new family to the neighborhood for my act of service. And of course, I'd make enough for my family to enjoy as well.
I haven't had these cookies for a long time. My mom made them when I was young, and I loved them. They're really easy to make, and kids love to help out because it's like making little chocolate waffles.
So, if you want to do a good deed and put a smile on someone's face, make a batch of these.
Here they are before the frosting. Another great idea would
be to serve them like this with ice cream and hot fudge sauce.
The finished turtles. What a fun cookie!

Curtis' Cocoa Butter Frosting

- 8 Tbsps. Butter
- 6 Tbsps. cocoa powder
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 ½ tsps. vanilla
- 4 ½ to 4 ¾ cups powdered sugar
Oh wow, Curtis, those look fantastic. And cute too. :) I'll have to make them sometime.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever considered adding caramel to them somehow, (I'm thinking a bit of homemade caramel sauce drizzled on top of the frosting under the pecan?) so you get both the turtle candy flavor and the look of a turtle too? Or would that be too much? I dunno if that would make them too rich... I guess I should make them so I know...
I'm totally going to have to stop reading this here blog. We made the banana fudge muffins on Sunday and LOVED them. Too many great recipes.
ReplyDeleteLisa--I've always thought about adding caramel, but whenever I think about making them, I don't have any on hand and am too lazy to go to the store. If you try it before I do, let me know how it turned out.
ReplyDeletePaige--I sometimes think I need to stop posting to this blog. I tend to more than sample all I make. It's not helping that gut go away at all.
I totally forgot about these!! We'll have to make them when we get back from Carpinteria. (The girls are in Alaska right now with their Grandmother and Aunt so if I made them now I would move like a turtle because I would eat them all!)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of serving them with ice-cream and hot fudge sauce. What a fun way to use my waffle iron (which I got from Sebi's grandfather, by the way).
